Abbott Lawrence Academy logoAbbott Lawrence Academy (ALA) formerly located inside of the Lawrence High School Campus in the South part of the City of Lawrence is now physically located inside of the former historic Lawrence High School building in the North part of the City of Lawrence. The former Lawrence High School building has since been renamed to the North Common Education Complex and has hosted many schools over the past few years, including the most recent occupant Abbott Lawrence Academy.

The Abbott Lawrence Academy established in 2015 operates as Lawrence High Schools distinct honors program. Admission is based on a selective application and entrance exam process, with a limited number of students accepted each year. As part of Lawrence High School, Abbott Lawrence Academy also known as “ALA” is accredited by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

ALA also known as Abbott aims to offer students in Lawrence an opportunity to experience a high-quality honors education like that found in private schools.

Abbott Lawrence Academy is named after Abbott Lawrence who was a prominent 19th-century American businessman, politician, and philanthropist who played a key role in the development of the city of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
